I was born in South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1962, now I reside a few miles north of Roberts, MT. I am a self-taught artist, although I continued my education and received a B.A. from Montana State University. I have painted most of my life. At first, I thought the only true art was realist painting, never considering any other style. Although I had great satisfaction in painting that way, I needed to say more. My work is in permanent collections in Montana and South Dakota, as well as numerous private collections. I won "best of show" at The Great Falls Native American Art Show, spring of 2000, and have been a judge for the Indian Health Service National Poster Contest. I was a visiting artist at Purdue University, and at schools in Montana, and Wyoming. One of my pieces placed "first in watercolor division" at The Red Cloud Indian Art Show-2000. My works can be seen in a number of galleries across the country. |

"My works depict the past, which with every passing day is slipping away from the foundation that it was built upon. Combining my knowledge of the equine and my tribal heritage, I hope to tell a story from a different perspective about today’s Native American. By virtue of personal experiences within my culture and inter- action with non-natives, I hope to convey a very unique perspective- one which we all can personally share." |
